The system comprises 85 underwater floodlights and 6 bracket headlamps. Total power installed for the entire lighting system using LED technology comes to just 2.1 kW, with an electricity saving of 70%.
Technicians refurbished the fountain's artistic lighting system, replacing 56 floodlights with LED technology. The lamps were placed at strategic points of the monument to restore the accent lighting implemented by Acea in 2015.

Several headlamps installed on the shells behind the statue of Oceanus highlight the fountain's central structure, while other floodlights placed inside the bowl and at the base of the rocks and lateral statues enhance the detail alongside the central body. By way of this intervention, the upper bowl of the fountain is also once again fully illuminated.
What is accent lighting?
Accent lighting is used to highlight a given area or object. This type of lighting focuses attention on certain elements also by using a varying light intensity and narrow beams of light.
Trevi Fountain
It is certainly the most famous and spectacular fountain in Rome: a magnificent work representing the mostra (showy terminus) of the Acqua Vergine aqueduct. In past centuries, the aqueducts carrying water to Rome would end in a 'mostra' fountain: an actual fountain for fetching water, but also a monument, a sculpture to embellish a piazza or a road and to show the power and wealth of whosoever, a pope or a nobleman, had commissioned the incredible work of art.
For the construction of the Trevi Fountain, in 1732, Pope Clement XII contacted the best artists of the time and, out of the sketches sent, the choice fell to the one submitted by the Roman Nicola Salvi, inspired by the works of Bernini. At the centre of the monument is Oceanus driving a shell-shaped chariot, drawn by two winged horses, held back by two Tritons.
