Maria Martoccia was appointed Head of Regulatory Function at Acea in October 2023.
She is well versed in public infrastructures, public services, network and transport, and she built her career between public infrastructures and academic world.
Between November 2021 and October 2023, she served as Director at the Regulatory Authority of Transportation, and she was responsible for market monitoring, regulatory model validation, and data collection and processing. Moreover, from December 2010 to October 2021, she was part of the Scientific and Technical Council of Experts of the Treasury Department at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. She also represented the Ministry as member of the governing bodies in various institutions and companies.
Between November 2006 and April 2008, she worked at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, in the Interministerial Committee for Economic Programming, as member of the consulting Nucleus for the Implementation of the Guidelines for the regulation of public utility services. From September 2007 to September 2008, she worked at GME, (Gestore del Mercato Elettrico – Electric Market Operator), as expert in the support of strategic Direction for the definition of auction mechanisms for electricity markets and for regulatory activities.
Maria Martoccia also worked in the academic world and published various scientific papers.
From September 2006 to September 2016, she was Professor of Industrial Organization at the LUISS “Guido Carli” University Department of Economics. Moreover, between September 2007 and December 2010 she was Lecturer in energy economics and Research associate in the field of Energy Market Group at the Department of Management Science and Operations of London Business School.
From September 1992 to July 1999, she was Professor of Industrial Organization at the LUISS Department of Economics, and she was also Research associate at GRIF – Financial Research Group.
Maria Martoccia got her degree cum laude in Economics and Business Administration at LUISS “Guido Carli” University. She obtained a PhD in Management Science and Operations at London Business School, and she owns the National Scientific Qualification (ASN) for the role of associate professor in Applied Economics.
