Prescription: when can it be requested

From 1 January 2020, the prescription period for water billing was reduced from 5 years to 2 years by the 2018 Budget Law (Law No. 205/2017), as modified by the 2020 Budget Law (Law No. 160/2019).

Final users included in the categories defined by the law and ARERA dispositions No. 547/19 and No. 610/21 can object to the payment of predated amounts included in water bills due after 1 January 2020.

How do I request the application of the two-year prescription?

 If you receive a bill that includes amounts due for water used over two years prior, on the first page you will find the form to request the application of the prescription. The form shows the amount to which the prescription applies and the address to submit the form.

The form can simply be signed and sent choosing one of the following options:

Should you lose the invoice or the relevant form, you may download it from the MyAcea Acqua Customer Arera or request a duplicate via one of our contact channels.
