Sustainable transport in the City of Rome

Chargepoint charging stations to move around town with sustainable transport

This sustainable mobility project, launched in late December 2020, is part of Roma Capitale's Electric Mobility Plan. Acea Innovation will have installed more than 800 charging points throughout the city by the end of the first phase.

The recharging stations installed by Acea Innovation supply energy generated exclusively from renewable sources and use two different technologies: "Quick" technology, which is suitable for standard charging, and "Fast" technology, which allows for faster and more efficient charging processes.

In Rome, electric charging point installation was carried out in full compliance with the Capital's Planning provisions.

Green Mobility in Rome: the figures

Over 800
electric charging points authorized
Over 1,600
electric charging points authorized in Italy

Data as at April 2022

The project supports the Roma Capitale Mobility Plan and the National Energy Transition Plan by developing a widespread network of interoperable charging infrastructure to support electric mobility in Rome, a large urban center where the environmental impact of transport is significantly higher. For this reason, it is fundamental to provide the city with recharging services.

Sustainable mobility in Rome: the workflow of the project

  • Analysis of territory and needs
  • Widespread deployment of recharging infrastructure
  • Quick (standard) recharging columns
  • Fast (direct current) recharging columns
  • Dedicated ICT portal for strategy, accounting and reporting
