Filippo Stefanelli has been Executive President of Acea Produzione SpA (since December 2016), Executive President of Ecogena Srl, the ESCO of the Acea Group (since June 2019), and Director of Acea Sun Capital Srl, a holding company in the photovoltaic sector (since September 2018).
Filippo Stefanelli is a manager with over 20 years of experience in the energy sector and has gained diversified experience in the supply chain, with roles of increasing responsibility.
Among his experiences, over a three-year period he has developed a portfolio of over 1 GW of green field projects in the photovoltaic sector and 250 MW of energy storage systems on the national territory; he has conducted numerous M&A operations on the secondary market for incentivized photovoltaics; in 2022 he structured a transaction for the sale of a portfolio of renewable assets to an international infrastructure fund, establishing a Joint Venture with the fund itself; he managed asset management and energy management activities (PPA and energy trading) for the JV between Acea and the investment fund; he has developed energy efficiency projects and generation systems in the industrial sector as well as electric mobility projects.
Before joining Acea’s Production Area in 2017, Filippo Stefanelli was in the Group’s Commercial and Trading Area from 2011 to 2016. He held the role of Energy Management Director, with responsibility for the trading unit of all energy commodities and the Sales and Procurement Portfolio Management Unit (from 2012 to 2016). He was a member of the board of directors of Umbria Energy SpA (energy sales company, from July 2016 to January 2018). From 2013 to 2017 he was the Italian representative in Brussels in the Retail Committee and the Hydro Working Group of Eurelectric and member of the Europe Committee of Assoelettrica. From 2011 to 2012 he was Head of the Sales and Pricing Portfolio of Acea Energia SpA.
Previously, he held various roles in the Market management of Edipower SpA, one of the 3 Gencos established by ENEL SpA, until becoming Head of Energy Contracts and Systems for the Market and Head of Regulatory Affairs (2009-2011). From 2008 to 2009 he was Head of the Control and Dispatch Center for a portfolio of thermoelectric and hydroelectric plants of over 7000 MW. From 2005 to 2008 he was responsible for managing the environmental securities portfolio and specialist in regulatory and regulatory affairs relating to the renewable sources and Emissions Trading sector. Finally, from 2003 to 2005 he was a wholesale energy market analyst and market systems specialist.
Filippo Stefanelli is co-author of several technical publications on renewable sources and emissions trading, including the book “Fare Energia” and the book “Energy products - Environment and taxation”, published by IPSOA.
He was Aspen Junior Fellow (from 2009 to 2014) and from 2014 Former Aspen Junior at the Aspen Institute Italia.
He graduated in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pavia with a score of 110/110 cum laude. He also obtained the Higher University Diploma from the University Institute of Higher Studies of Pavia and a Master of Management Development (PSM) from SDA-Bocconi.
Passionate about music and sport, he studied flute at the Tito Schipa Conservatory in Lecce and practiced competitive road cycling up to the junior category of the Italian Cycling Federation.
