Acea honours the seventh art acting as a sponsor of the Rome Film Fest, scheduled from 16 to 27 October 2023 at the Parco della Musica Auditorium.
With its support to the Rome Film Fest, the Acea Group confirms its willingness to support all the artistic and cultural events that promote the area in which the group operates.
The 19th edition of Rome Film Fest, which will be held from 16 to 27 October 2024 at the Parco della Musica Auditorium and in other locations and venues across the capital city, will see the Acea Group even more involved than in the past. Indeed, there will be many activities in which it will be actively involved.
For the duration of the event, the Acea Group will be present at the Rome Film Fest with a special booth, accessible via a symbolic “blue carpet”, aimed at raising visitors’ awareness about the importance of water resources. At the booth, visitors will be able to watch screenings of the short films participating in the contest “The Thousand Faces of Water” and to engage in different activities exploring the relationship with water.
On Wednesday, October 16th, during the opening day of the 19th edition of the Rome Film Fest, the screening and the awarding of the short film winner of the contest “The Thousand Faces of Water – A New Awareness on the Use of the Water Resources”, announced by the Acea Group on the occasion of its 115 year anniversary, will take place at the Borgna Studio Theatre, within the Parco della Musica Auditorium.
The jury, composed by people and managers from Acea, as well as critics from the Experimental Cinematography Center of Rome, will award the Acea Group Special Award to the authors of the winning short film.

After the first edition in 2006, in just a few years the event established itself on the scene of film festivals in Italy and around the world, positioning itself among the main major events in the sector. Many films presented there have then received top world recognition, such as the Oscar® and the Golden Globe, the most famous awards of European cinema, such as the European Film Awards, the César and the Goya, and of the Italian one, from the David di Donatello to the Nastro d'Argento.
In October, the Parco della Musica Auditorium hosts screenings, meetings, exhibitions and conferences dedicated to the seventh art. The venue designed by Renzo Piano hosts the greatest authors and performers of international cinema, who contribute to making this meeting moment a true celebration of cinema.
On Monday, 21 October at 9:30 p.m., in the Auditorium’s Sala Sinopoli, the latest film by the French director Jacques Audiard, titled Emilia Pérez, will be screened.
During the screening of this musical comedy, which has been added to the list of films eligible for the Best International Feature Film Oscar in 2025, the Acea Group will attend the event as guest of the evening, with its CEO and General Manager, Fabrizio Palermo, and its President, Barbara Marinali.
Now in its 19th edition, the Rome Film Fest confirms itself as one of the most important movie festivals in the world, constantly recording an increase in visitors and cinema professionals' attendance.
The star of the official cover image of this year's Rome Film Fest is Marcello Mastroianni. In a shot by Gideon Bachmann taken on the set of the movie 8 ½ directed by Federico Fellini, Mastroianni is portrayed while playing one of his most iconic roles, Guido Anselmi, a director in the midst of a creative crisis.
With the goal of promoting cinema culture and celebrating the diversity of styles in the audiovisual world, the Rome Film Fest offers a rich programme of events and screening shows.
This year, in addition to the Progressive Cinema international competition, there will be two formats focused on meeting the audience. Paso Doble, a conversation between two authors, and Absolute Beginners, where an established author will recount their first steps in the world of movies.

As in previous years, there will also be the Restauri e Omaggi (Restorations and Tributes) sections, featuring masterpieces restored to their original beauty and in-depth conversations on the work of the most important figures in Italian and international cinema.
“Progressive Cinema – Visions for the world of tomorrow” is the name of the specialized competition at the Rome Film Fest, in which 18 Italian and international films will compete. The competition includes the awarding of various prizes, such as: Best Film Awards, Grand Jury Prize, Best Screenplay Award, Best Actress Awards, Special Jury Prize for the best photography, editing, or original soundtrack.
“Ocean Cleaner”, directed by Davide Salucci, is the title of the short film dedicated to water resources in a context of change, which has been awarded the Acea Group Special Prize. The short film tells the story of a little robot that escapes from the swimming pool where it works to clean up the oceans.
Following the winning short film, we find “Keep cool, keep full”, directed by Simone Tosi, which celebrates sustainability and demonstrates how a conscious use of water can significantly impact the environment; “Quei due” (“Those two”), by Martina Acazi, which, set against the background of a domestic interior, proposes a series of didactic cartoons in which two children educate their parents on saving water; “Acqua” (“Water”), directed by Fabio Crisante, which emphasises the new awareness of water wastage with a view towards a sustainable future; and “Goccia dopo goccia” (“Drop after Drop”), by Alberto De Pasquale, which highlights how the combination of artificial intelligence and the human effort can solve everyday issues, such as a leaky tap.
