The ten winning schools from the city and province of Rome in the competition “WHAT WOULD YOU DO TO PROTECT OUR WATER?”, which concluded the XVII edition of the Acea Scuola project, dedicated this year to the protection of water resources, were rewarded today. The ceremony was held at Acea’s headquarters in Piazzale Ostiense, in the presence of both Acea’s Chairperson Michaela Castelli and the Chairperson of the Roma Capitale school commission, Maria Teresa Zotta, who promoted and sponsored the initiative.

The 2019 project, entitled “PROTECTING WATER” – which took place at the Conciliation Auditorium in eight days of multimedia between March and April – saw the participation of more than ten thousand students from 180 primary and lower secondary schools. The initiative ended with the contest “What would you do to protect our water?”, which engaged pupils in the production of a 30-second video. The students created actual tutorials on water savings, adverts and short stories regarding the responsible use of water describing, using a camera or a simple smartphone, their relationship with the environment. The ten best projects, chosen by a technical panel from Acea, received a prize of one thousand Euro to be used for the schools’ teaching requirements.

“Via this project – declared Chairperson Michaela Castelli – Acea has sought to strengthen the virtuous relationship between school and company through a ludic learning path imbued with the values of sustainable development. In this connection, it should be mentioned that, during its twenty years of history, Acea Scuola has involved in sustainable development information, training and awareness activities around 112,000 students and more than 21,000 teachers. These important numbers have allowed us to come into contact with the world of the younger generation and to pave the way for a new awareness, at individual and group level, in the management of resources and the environment”.
