Press Release

Inauguration of the village that accompanies runners and visitors to the Water Marathon, starting Sunday morning

This morning the Expo Village of Acea Run Rome The Marathon opened at the Palazzo dei Congressi at the Eur. There will be two days, those on Friday and Saturday, of entertainment and activities dedicated to sports and wellness, within the 4,500 square meters of exhibition area, with more than one hundred exhibitors. The village, a real home of the marathon, in this edition in the name of water, is open to everyone, not only to participants but also to sports enthusiasts and visitors.

With the claim "runforwater", thisyear the sporting event wants to emphasize even more the fundamental role of water, for life, the planet and also for sport. Along the more than 42 km of race, Acea will guarantee several refreshment points on Sunday, with about 60,000 litres of water available to athletes and over 100,000 biocompostable glasses, with a view to circular economy.

Themes that will obviously be protagonists not only in the race on Sunday but also in the Acea stand inside the village. In the exhibition space of the industrial group, the first national operator in the water sector, there will be videos dedicated to water that help to reflect on the consumption we make of it on a daily basis and activities  aimed  at  underlining  how important it is to safeguard the water resource as much as possible.

Saturday, March 16, in the morning, at 11 guests at the Acea stand, eight of the most important international athletes in the race. Also on Saturday, from 4 pm, the stand will be animated with a round table entitled "The theme of water between sport, sustainability and a look to the future" that will see the participation of three champions of Italian sport who have their natural element in water: Lorenzo Marsaglia (diving), Alessandra Sensini (sailing), Giulia D’Innocenzo (swimming). With them, discussing the relationship between sport and water, there will be Virman Cusenza, Director of Communication at Acea, and Pierfrancesco Ragni, Deputy Corporate General Manager of the Group.

In addition  to the support  for  the  event,  on Sunday  four Acea teams will take part in the Acea Run4Rome relay. Participation also in the name of solidarity: with the occasion the Acea teams have activated a crowdfunding to support the non-profit Association "Sport without Borders" which is responsible for guaranteeing completely  free sports courses to  girls  and  boys  who come from situations of socio-economic hardship.
