Press Release

To promote sustainability, lights off in Rome and in all the offices of the Group companies, from Lazio to Tuscany, from Umbria, to Campania, and Molise

The initiative will also be repeated on 18 February, on the occasion of World Energy Efficiency Day

Tomorrow night, from 7 to 9 PM, Acea will turn all lights off in its Piazzale Ostiense and Viale dell'Aeronautica offices, as a symbol of its support to “M’illumino di meno”, the initiative promoted by the Rai Radio 2 show “Caterpillar”, created to raise citizens’ awareness on energy savings and sustainability, which this year reaches its 20th edition. The other Group companies, Acquedotto del Fiora, Geal, Gesesa, Gori, Umbra Acque, Umbria Energy, ASM Terni, SII, Nuove Acque, Acea Ato 5, and Acea Molise will also participate with similar initiatives in their respective offices, located in Lazio, Umbria, Tuscany, Campania, and Molise.

The goal is to support this awareness campaign on the responsible use of electricity, especially in a moment in history which sees the energy issue having more and more a prominent role in combating climate change. The safeguard of climate, in fact, goes also through the reduction of non-essential, daily consumption.

The initiative will be repeated also on 18 February, during the World Energy Efficiency Day, established in 2005 when the Kyoto Protocol entered into force. Also in this case, lights will be turned off in the Acea Group’s offices, to state, with a symbolic gesture, the support to this day and the attention to the issue of energy efficiency and saving as forms of environmental sustainability. Precisely on this occasion, in fact, through the social channels of the Acea Group, an awareness campaign will also be launched on the importance of some small virtuous behaviours that can make the difference, both to lower the costs of bills and to safeguard the environment. These behaviours include the use of LED bulbs and low-consumption appliances, always avoiding leaving electrical appliances on standby.
