Press Release

The Christmas tree, positioned this year in Piazza del Popolo, and the illuminations in Via del Corso has been lit up this afternoon in the presence of the Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri. During the ceremony, there has been also a performance by the Choral Singing School of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma.

The illuminations of Via del Corso, created by the Acea Group, are dedicated to the theme of universal peace. The carpet of lights, which extends from Piazza Venezia to Piazza del Popolo, is approximately 1,400 meters long and is made up of 18 strings of warm white LED light, for a total of 300,000 light points. Inserted at intervals among the lights, there are the word "Peace" - translated into different languages, in French, German and Spanish - bright stars and the Acea logo, for a total of 65 decorative elements. The plan does not only concern the city center: in addition to the supply of the electricity needed to light up the Christmas tree in Piazza del Popolo, among Acea's initiatives for the Christmas holidays there is also the installation of a Christmas tree in each of the other fourteen municipalities.

The Acea Group has been represented in Piazza del Popolo by Roberta Rindone, employee of the Communication department, who has personally lit up the Christmas tree, alongside the Mayor and the President of Acea, Barbara Marinali. Roberta and her two daughters have given a testimony to raise greater awareness among citizens on the issue of road victims, a few weeks after the loss of her husband and their father in a tragic car accident. Thanks to the collaboration between Areti, a company of the Acea group, and Roma Capitale, over 700 illuminated pedestrian crossings will be installed in the coming months, using latest generation technologies that will improve the public lighting service in the vicinity of particularly relevant pedestrian crossings, also in the peripheral areas of the capital.
