Press Releases

The second stage of the Acea Innovation Tour took place today in Naples at the 'Green Med Symposium', the Congress Centre of the Neapolitan capital, in Piazzale della Stazione Marittima. The event - a week after the first stage held in Terni, - was streamed live on Ricicla TV. To address the issues of ecological and digital transition, innovative solutions were proposed by Acea Group, the Group’s companies operating in Campania, Gesesa and Gori, the Department for Innovation of Regione Campania, the technological player Atos and the start-up UP2YOU.

After the welcome address by Ivan Vigolo, Acea’s Chief Innovation & Information Officer, which opened the debate of the panel named 'Le sfide dell’Open Innovation nella transizione ecologica e digitale' (Open Innovation challenges in the ecological and digital transition), on the Dione Elettra stage of the Conference Centre, speeches were given by Valeria Fascione, Assessor for Innovation of Regione Campania, Silvia Celani, Acea’s Head of Innovation, Salvatore Rubbo, CEO of Gesesa, Vittorio Cuciniello, CEO of Gori, Simone Zamblera, Acea’s Business Development Director, Manlio Fabbrocini, Head of Business Development of UP2YOU, Andrea Di Giorgio, Manager Energy & Utilities and Decarbonisation of Atos.

Starting from an open innovation model proposed by Acea and conceived as a dynamic ecosystem made of start-ups, SMEs, research centres, universities and technological players at national and international level, the panel analysed the concrete applications and best practices carried out by our Group due to the use of the latest digital technologies. All this, in view of a smart water company, equipped with a state-of-the-art monitoring system of the networks and a greater attention to protect the water resource, in line with Acea's sustainability strategies and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

In order to achieve the goals of the 2030 Agenda – and decarbonisation in particular - the multiutility proposed the experience of Waidy WoW which, in collaboration with the start-up UP2YOU, has developed a certified calculation system of the C02 savings, obtainable by resorting to the 50,000 drinking water supply points mapped by the application and distributed in all regions of Italy, including those where the Group's water companies operate.

'In this second stage of the Innovation Tour,' said Ivan Vigolo, Acea’s Chief Innovation & Information Officer, 'our intention is to consolidate our relationship with the territories where our Group operates, acting as partners in the search for cutting-edge solutions for an increasingly efficient management of primary services. We want indeed to share our strategy of innovation as a service to our community, in order to implement a development model in which innovation and digitalisation are integrated with the principles of sustainability and ecological transition.'

In the days to come, the Group will be present again at the 'Green Med Symposium' with initiatives on e-mobility and waste transition. The panels 'E-mobility Energy & Waste Transition, le comunità circolari di Acea Innovation' (E-mobility Energy & Waste Transition: the circular communities of Acea Innovation) and 'Materie critiche, dall’industria una soluzione per l’ambiente' (Critical topics: a solution for the environment coming from industry), will be attended by, among others, Valerio Marra, Acea’s Head of Commercial and Chairman of Acea Innovation, and Marco Palazzesi, Head of Business & Development of Acea Ambiente.

The Acea Innovation Tour will conclude with its third and final stage in Rome, at the Officine Farneto, on 8 July.
