Today was the first step: green light to the working groups that will choose the sustainability projects for the Group's strategies and the updating of the Business Plan

The Acea Group will launch a plan for the definition of an ecological transition plan that will trace the company's path. In line with the long-term objectives set by the 2030 Agenda, it will lay the foundations for updating the Business Plan which will have a ten-year time frame.

Today, the CEO Giuseppe Gola opened the activities of the operational working groups, made of people from the Acea industrial areas committed to the ideas of innovation and sustainability, and experts from companies, academic and technological partners with whom Acea collaborates. These include the Polytechnic University of Marche, the POLIMI School of Management, the CNR - Institute of Sciences and Technologies for Energy and Sustainable Mobility, the CNR - Institute of Geosciences and GeoResources, Atos, Google Cloud, IBM, Citrix and Microsoft. These groups, organized with a cross-sectoral way of working and with diverse skills to allow wide-ranging comparison and vision, will be divided into macro-subjects relating to the ecological transition and the Group's businesses: decarbonisation, sustainable mobility, protection of water resources and prevention of hydrogeological instability, resilience of critical infrastructures and networks, circular economy and the protection of biodiversity. The initiative, announced by the company during the last Sustainability Day, aims to identify the projects with which Acea will concretely contribute to the achievement of the challenging goals set by the European Union, including the cut of 55 % of greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and climate neutrality by 2050.

Giuseppe Gola, CEO of Acea, commented: “Sustainability is a fundamental value of our company and one of the pillars of the Group's development strategy. This is why we wanted to start this important development and design plan. Thanks to the experience of companies and research organizations – at national and international level – with which we collaborate, and thanks to the contribution of our people, this plan will help us in the identification of sustainable projects to be integrated within the objectives of the ten-year Business Plan, that will be presented in June. The initiative also aims to define innovative solutions to make our industrial processes increasingly sustainable, so that Acea can actively contribute to the implementation of the ecological transition.”
