The event will involve 130 schools in Rome, all competing in the name of sport and creativity

In addition to the tournament, which ACEA has been sponsoring for 26 years, the event includes a photography and a comics contest and a prize for the conscious use of water

This year Acea will once again sponsor Volley Scuola, the traditional sport event – at its 27th edition – dedicated to high-school students in the Rome metropolitan area. Organized by the FIPAV (Italian Volleyball Federation) Regional Committee, the Volley Scuola Tournament-Acea Trophy, involving 130 high-schools, has become a point of reference in the local student sports community.

Between February and May, 3,500 young athletes, from approximately 300 teams, will play around 1000 matches in the attempt of lifting the trophies. In addition to the sports competitions, a number of educational initiatives will give students the opportunity to take part in literary and photography contests (“Raccontaci Volley Scuola (Tell us about Volley Scuola)” and “Click&Volley”), as well as a comics contest (“Comics on the net”) and win a prize for the best slogan for the conscious use of water”. The winners will receive prizes and grants, which will be assigned during the month of June.

Volley Scuola represents a great opportunity for the Rome-based multi utility company to strengthen its bonds with the city, its citizens and the student community. Over the past 26 years, this project has brought together more than 70,000 students, who thanks to Acea and Volley Scuola have enjoyed the experience in the name of sport, participation and environment.

“Sponsoring a project like this, designed to promote sport and social exchange in schools – said Massimiliano Paolucci, Director of External Relations and Communication – is a huge satisfaction for Acea, who has been supporting this initiative for 26 years. The objective is to link sports competitions with initiatives that promote creativity and environment protection, offering students an interdisciplinary education program. In this edition, for example, Acea has linked a volleyball tournament with the conscious use of water, with the aim of raising awareness on topics such as sustainability and environment, fundamental values of our company”.
