The lighting of the forum was promoted by the Special Superintendency of the Colosseum and the Central Archaeological Area of Rome and Acea was responsible for its design and development. From dusk to dawn, the ancient heart of the city of Rome is visible to everyone, from Via dei Fori Imperiali, the belvedere del Clivo Capitolino, the square opposite the Mamertine Prison, with a light that varies in hue from golden white to softer white, optimising the structures’ material. The bands of light of the new technical lighting system envelop Via Sacra, from the Arch of Titus to that of Septimus Severus, the Basilicas of Maxentius, Aemilia and Julia, the House of the Vestals, the Piazza del Foro, the Curia, the Temples of Saturn, Antoninus and Faustina, Caesar, Castor and Pollux and the Church of Santa Maria Antiqua.

Aesthetics combine with function: thanks to LED technology, the new system makes for 60% savings on consumption.
