The illumination of the Forum was promoted by the Special Superintendency of the Colosseum and the Central Archaeological Area of Rome, with Acea handling its design and implementation. From dusk to dawn, the ancient heart of the city of Rome is visible to all from Via dei Fori Imperiali, the Clivus Capitolinus viewpoint, the piazza in front of the Mamertine Prison, with a light that varies in shade from golden white to soft white, enhancing the structure material. The bands of light of the new technical lighting system envelop Via Sacra, from the Arch of Titus to that of Septimius Severus, the Basilicas of Maxentius, Aemilia and Julia, the House of the Vestals, the Piazza del Foro, the Curia, the Temples of Saturn, of Antoninus and Faustina, of Caesar, of Dioscuri (Castor and Pollux) and the Church of Santa Maria Antiqua.

A combination of aesthetic and functional aspects: thanks to LED technology, the new system enables a saving of 60% on consumption.
