Our sustainability strategy

Our Group serves the people and the local communities. This role makes us aware of both our responsibility towards our stakeholders and the economic, social and environmental impacts that we generate.

Acea’s strategic planning takes account of both its industrial dimension and sustainability aspects, facilitating “integrated thinking”.

Over the years, we have synergistically defined and revised the Business Plan and the Sustainability Plan so as to enhance our capacity to create value not only for the business, but also for the local communities, society and the environment.

The Business Plan and Sustainability Plan project us towards more and more challenging goals, consolidating the integrated vision between business and sustainability, driving us to be a Group that pays attention to its social and environmental context and a generator of shared value.

Acea ranks among Italy’s 2022 leaders of sustainability

The second edition of the Sustainability Leaders survey, conducted by Il Sole 24 Ore in collaboration with Statista, ranks Acea among the 200 most sustainable and transparent companies in reporting. The study considered, out of the 1,500 firms with highest sales or listed on the Stock Exchange, those which publish a sustainability report, measuring their progress based on 40 parameters that assess environmental, social and economic dimensions. The 200 highest-scoring companies – calculated on a scale of 0 to 100 – were announced as part of the Sole24Ore report.

Acea has successfully completed its first Green Bond placement

To give further momentum to sustainability, in January 2021 Acea successfully issued its first Green Bond for 900 million Euro and, in January 2023, its second Green Bond for another 700 million Euro. The issuance is in line with the Group’s financial strategy: the proceeds will be used to fund projects with positive environmental impact, such as those concerning water resource protection, electricity distribution network resilience, energy efficiency, electric mobility, development of the circular economy and increased energy generation from renewable sources.
