Works on the digitalization and modernization of water pipes in various municipalities, as well as the enhancement of the Torrerisi purifier in the southern part of the province, will begin in the coming weeks
In the coming weeks, construction sites for Acea Ato 5 will begin for projects funded by the NRRP in the province of Frosinone. These include two strategic projects focusing on interventions in the water, purification, and sewer networks, with completion expected by 2026. The total value of the works amounts to approximately 60 million euros, of which about 40 million euros are funded by the NRRP.
The first project, which has a broader scope, involves an investment of over 33 million euros, with approximately 27 million euros funded by the NRRP. It aims to digitalize and modernize the networks with the goal of reducing water loss. Specifically, the municipalities of Anagni, Alatri, Cassino, Ceccano, Cervaro, Ferentino, Frosinone, Pontecorvo, Sora, and Veroli will be involved, serving a total of around 240,000 inhabitants. The project includes the division into districts of approximately 900 km of networks, with an overall recovery target of about 26 million cubic meters of water by 31 March 2026.
The Executive Chairman of Acea Ato 5, Roberto Cocozza, emphasized the strategic importance of the project, describing it as a significant opportunity for the region to accelerate the upgrading of infrastructure. “We are proud to have secured this important funding” – stated Cocozza – “for projects that will enable us to digitalize and modernize the infrastructure. With these funds, and without additional fare increases for users, we will implement cutting-edge technological innovations to achieve strategic goals in environmental sustainability and resource conservation. In particular, through this project we aim to reduce water loss.”
The second project, valued at approximately 19 million euros, with about 12 million euros funded by the NRRP, focuses on enhancing the purification and sewage systems in the municipalities of Ausonia, Castelnuovo Parano and Coreno Ausonio, in the southern part of the province. The project includes the expansion and modernization of the Torrerisi purification plant, as well as the completion of sewage networks serving the entire agglomeration. This will contribute to the environmental and hygienic recovery of the area by providing it with an efficient urban sewage collection and purification system serving approximately 4,000 inhabitants. Additionally, the project plans to extend the sewage network by about 7 km.
“Thanks to these works” – concluded Cocozza – “we will be able to ensure a more efficient wastewater management system while enhancing environmental sustainability in the region, and providing a service of great value for the well-being of our citizens and for the protection of the local environment.”
