Acea, leading industrial group in the Italian water sector and one of the foremost environment and energy operators, and Orascom Construction, an engineering and construction contractor active in the implementation of major industrial and infrastructure projects in the Middle East, Africa and USA, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (“MoU”) for the joint development of water business opportunities in Africa and the Middle East.

The MOU initiates a follow-up activity on potential collaborations regarding works of common interest, such as the design, construction, operation and maintenance of water service systems and networks, treatment and reuse plants, as well as the implementation of desalination facilities.

Insofar as concerns Acea, the agreement signed is consistent with its presence as part of the Mattei Plan control room, where it is involved in the research and development of infrastructure projects for water resource management in Africa. Orascom Construction has completed and is executing some of the largest projects worldwide across several sectors including the water sector.
