Acea supports the Rome Film Fest

Acea and the Rome Film Fest strengthen a long-lasting partnership, confirming once again the group’s willingness to support one of the most strategic industries of Italy’s cultural fabric.

The 18th edition of the festival, which will be held from 18 to 29 October 2023 at the Parco della Musica Auditorium and in other locations and venues of the capital city, confirms itself as one of the most important movie festivals in the world, constantly recording an increase in terms of visitors and cinema professionals attendance.

The star of the official cover image of this year's Rome Film Fest is Anna Magnani, the Roman actress known to all as Nannarella, who thanks to her authentic and genuine way of acting has established herself as an unforgettable figure of both Italian and international cinema, which led her to be the first Italian actress to win an Oscar® Award.

Programme of the 2023 Rome Film Fest

With the goal of promoting cinema culture and celebrating the diversity of styles of the audio-visual world, the Rome Film Fest offers a rich programme of events and screening shows.
This year, in addition to the Progressive Cinema international competition, there will be two new formats focused on meeting the audience. Paso Doble, a conversation between two authors, and Absolute Beginners, which will see an established author give an account of his/her first steps in the world of movies.
The programme is enriched with three out-of-competition sections:

  • Freestyle, for works with free format, duration and style
  • Grand Public, dedicated to mainstream movies
  • Best of 2023, with the best movies of the season from other international festivals.

Once again, this year there will also be the Restauri e Retrospettive (Restorations and Retrospective) section, with masterpieces returned to their original beauty and in-depth conversations on the work of the most important figures of Italian and international cinema.

The stars of the Rome Film Fest’s posters

Since the 2015 edition, many stars of the Italian and international cinema have taken turns appearing on the festival's posters. The first one was a 100% Italian spiritual godmother, the diva and actress Virna Lisi, who passed away a year earlier, which was also known overseas for her several roles alongside great actors such as Jack Lemmon, Tony Curtis and Anthony Quinn.
The following posters paid homage to great artists such as Gene Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Peter Sellers, Greta Garbo, Sidney Poitier and Paul Newman, Uma Thurman.

The relation between Acea and the Rome Film Fest

Many films presented there have then received top world recognition, such as the Oscar® and the Golden Globe, the most famous awards of European cinema, such as the European Film Awards, the César and the Goya, and of the Italian one, from the David di Donatello to the Nastro d'Argento

The venue designed by Renzo Piano hosts the greatest authors and performers of international cinema, who contribute to making this meeting moment a true celebration of cinema.
