The Sustainable Mobility Project at Commercity

A collaboration between Acea Innovation and Commercity

The Sustainable City Hub is an important milestone, created through a partnership between Acea Innovation and the ICIGEST Consortium, the operator of Commercity Rome, one of Italy’s leading wholesale logistics centres.

At the heart of the project is electric mobility, with 8 public charging stations (both quick and fast chargers) for electric vehicles, managed via Acea Innovation’s BOMTS (Banking Operation Maintenance Telematics Security) platform.

With over 300 businesses and 700,000 square meters of space, Commercity Rome is a major commercial hub in central Italy. The Sustainable City Hub fits perfectly here, a demonstration of Commercity’s commitment to making a positive impact in the region and driving a more sustainable future in collaboration with Acea Innovation.

The electric mobility plan developed by Acea Innovation and Commercity Rome is projected to save around 50 tons of CO2 per year.

For over 20 years, Commercity has been a leader in environmental sustainability. Back in 2010, a significant 5MW photovoltaic plant (now owned by EF Solare Italia Group) was installed on parking canopies. Today, through its collaboration with Acea Innovation, Commercity offers even more advanced and innovative green services.

Other sustainable initiatives

Looking ahead, the partnership between Commercity and Acea Innovation will continue to grow, taking a multidisciplinary approach that defines Acea’s work. Together, they plan to develop innovative projects to bring new services to the local community, transforming the site into a hub for renewable energy production and electric mobility in Rome.

And that’s not all: the Sustainable City Hub will also feature a green area irrigation system that reuses wastewater and rainwater, helping to conserve precious water resources.
