New Peschiera Aqueduct
The PROMISCES project, funded under the Horizon 2020 call, aims to identify how industrial pollution can hinder the full development of the circular economy (CE) within the EU and to develop strategies to overcome these barriers, in line with the ambitions of the European Green Deal and the Circular Economy Action Plan.
Project details:
PROMISCES considers specific pathways for some emerging contaminants, including:
Acea Infrastructure, in collaboration with SIMAM and the Polytechnic University of Marche, constitutes the Italian cluster in charge of developing advanced monitoring and abatement methodologies for some emerging contaminants, such as PFAS (polyfluorinated substances), in the different environmental matrices.
In particular, Acea Infrastructure is involved in 3 Work Programs (WPs) with a total allocated budget of €425,000.
The main activities consist in the development and application of new analytical methods (WP1) to specific case studies, in the treatment of port sediments (WP3) and in the treatment of landfill leachate (WP4).
The project is in its third year of implementation. Acea Infrastructure has already presented the research results for WP1. In April 2024, as part of the dissemination of the main results, Acea Infrastructure hosted an event to disseminate innovative treatments for the reduction of PFAS from landfill leachates. The event, organised in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Marche, saw the participation of national public bodies, control agencies and operators in the sector.
